Work out the GST amount and total on any transaction using India's current post-GST-2.0 rate slabs, split into CGST and SGST.
This calculator uses the post-'GST 2.0' rate structure from the 56th GST Council meeting, effective September 22, 2025, which consolidated the legacy 5/12/18/28% four-slab system into three slabs — 5%, 18%, and 40% (the last reserved for luxury/sin goods) — plus a 0% (exempt) tier. It does NOT use the old 5/12/18/28% slabs. For an amount exclusive of GST, GST = amount × rate, and total = amount + GST. For an amount inclusive of GST, the base is backed out as amount ÷ (1 + rate), and GST is the difference between the inclusive amount and that base — the total stays equal to the amount you entered either way. For an intra-state supply, the GST amount is split evenly into CGST and SGST (each half the total GST); this calculator always shows that even split and does not model inter-state IGST, which is charged as a single combined rate to the same total effect. Figures reflect the FY 2025-26 / post-Sept-2025 GST 2.0 rate structure and change if the GST Council revises rates further.
The GST Council rationalized the old four-slab 5/12/18/28% structure into three slabs — 5%, 18%, and 40% — effective September 22, 2025, as part of 'GST 2.0.' The 12% and 28% slabs no longer exist; most goods formerly at 12% moved to 5% or 18%, and 28% goods mostly moved to 18% or the new 40% luxury/sin-goods slab.
For a sale within one state, GST splits evenly into CGST (collected by the central government) and SGST (collected by the state government). For a sale between two states, a single IGST is charged instead, collected centrally and apportioned to the destination state. This calculator always shows the intra-state CGST/SGST split.
'Exclusive' means the amount you enter is the pre-tax base, and GST is added on top to reach the total. 'Inclusive' means the amount you enter is the final price already containing GST, and this calculator backs out how much of that total was tax.
